Workshop POSTPONED. Please check back in spring of 2021.
Pastels can be used in many ways. Join Carrie as she teaches a “backwards” or reductive/subtractive way of using pastels on paper. This technique is reminiscent of her memory of art school charcoal drawings where charcoal was used to cover a white sheet of paper, rubbed in, and erased to reveal the values. “Birds & Fish: Up Close and Personal” will challenge you, thrill and surprise you. Working on unsanded French paper, we’ll dive into color, line, and composition as you learn this most graphic technique. The last part of day 3 will conclude with mounting one of your large format paintings on a cradeled panel then covering it in cold wax - ready to hang with no frame, no glass. Beginner to advanced pastelists. INCLUDED: (1) per student 18” x 18” wooden Cradled panel; (1) sheet BFK Rives; and panel-back hardware and wire. $375.
